.22 Marauder Still Getting It Done   1 comment

Greetings All,

I have been very busy with homework this week and was not able to post this until now. This past Saturday evening (6/5), I made walked around the house with the .22 Marauder. Now that the garden is starting to come up good, I need to keep a close eye on the rabbits. I quickly saw a little rabbit and fairly close. I guesstimated him to be at about 30 yards (later lasered at 35). I put the mil-dot about the cross-hair on his head and pulled the trigger. The rabbit fell over instantly.

I grabbed my laser rangefinder and walked over to the rabbit to make sure I did not just wound him and found something wonderful. The head shot was just below the eye. I really like this Marauder. I turned to my left and see a small figure in the distant. It appears to be a rabbit. I lasered the rabbit at 76 yards. There was an old metal gate just to the right of me with old chicken wire on the front of it. I sat on the ground and stuck the rifle through one of the square holes. Looking at my reference card I know what mil-dot to use. I take a deep breath, let out some of the air and hold. Gentle squeeze of the trigger and …. THUMP! I hit the rabbit but he hopped away. That is strange, I know I hit him in about the middle of his body.

I walked down to where I shot him at and began to search. Perhaps he was in the bushes hiding? About 10 feet from where I shot him lay the rabbit. A nice 76 yard shot for the .22 M-rod.

Here is a photo of the two rabbits. The larger, top rabbit is the 76 yard shot.

Next is to attempt to lock the Marauder settings. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I can post some pictures and information.

Until next time,
Blessings,
Jeff

New Christian Web Links Page   Leave a comment

Greetings All,

I have had several websites over the years. Some I manually edited and created from scratch, others I used a content management system to manage the site. On every site I have always added my Christian Links.

Well, I finally got around to adding it to this blog. You will see the link at the top of the page. If you have other links to add, just email me and I will add the link.

Enjoy.

Blessings,
Jeff

Marauder Earning Keep   2 comments

Greeting All,

This past weekend I was working with both my Marauders. Checking the FPS and groups of each rifle. Well, since we have the garden out now (very small garden) I knew keeping away the various animals would be key. Rabbits are one of the main critters that will chew down your crop before you can say ecclesiology.

While benchrest shooting, I was keeping an eye on the field behind my target. After a while a rabbit came out from under the brush into the open field. I lazered the rabbit to be at 70 yards. Since I did not have my reference card yet for the .22, I would have to work off of memory. If memory served me correctly, about the third mil-dot down was about 70-72 yards.

I moved the .22 Marauder and the bags into a better position and took aim. I placed the third mil-dot in the middle of his head and gently pulled on the trigger. The 18 grain JSB pellet zips from the barrel and hits the rabbit just below the ear.

Here is the 70 kill with the Benjamin Marauder

I have been getting good results with both M-rods. Now I just have to figure out how to lock the settings in place.

Until next time…
Blessings,
Jeff

Having Fun in the Rain   Leave a comment

Greetings All,

This past Saturday I intended to test the .177 Marauder and see if all the settings were still in place. Well, after a bit of testing that evening it began to rain. No lightning, but plenty of rain. As I watched the H2O fall from the sky, both of my sons joined me under the gazebo. The plan was to wait a few minutes and then continue on as planned. This was not the case and the rain continued to tumble from the white cotton candy in the sky.

I called my wife on her cell phone. My wife was just inside the house, about 25 yards away, but trying to yell across the yard seemed pointless. I asked her to view the weather radar and see if it is about to quit raining. Her reply was not a favorable one. The falling H2O was sluggishly moving toward East Tennessee. “Well, drat” was my reply.

I informed my sweet wife that the boys were wanting to play in the rain. She replied by stating she use to play in the rain when she was little (provided there was no lightning). Play in the rain? Why would one want to play in the rain? This activity is foreign to me. The possibilities for injury are limitless for such an activity. Yet, my sweet wife was correct in her statement, “Oh it is fun! There is nothing wrong with it as long as there is no lightning.”

Well, between the confessions of my wife and the anxious desired looks of my boys, I decided it would be okay. I would just have to monitor them…. of course. 🙂 I gave the “Okay” and the boys darted into the rain. It would seem this activity was quite enjoyable for both boys. I called my wife again and asked her to take a few pictures of the boys playing. Of course, I wanted to snap some photos too. So after she told me she took a few pictures I ran to the back door, grabbed the camera in the case, ran back to the gazebo, and began to take a few pictures.

Here Dalton is letting the water running off the gazebo and fall onto his head.

Here is Cameron doing the very same thing.

My sweet wife took this picture of me waiting out the rain under the gazebo as Dalton drinks the water falling off (yuck!).

After about 45 minutes, the rain moved out. Dalton and Cameron were disappointed the rain quit. So they decided to go back inside and stay in the remainder of the evening. The boys have another precious memory tucked away. I….I now have a great memory of watching the boys play in the rain and recalling the verses about child-like faith. What a tremendous God I have.

Until next time… same bat time, same bat channel.
Blessings,
Jeff

Christian Audio.com – June Free Download   2 comments

Greetings All,

Here is Christian Audio’s free book download this month. (Click Here)

Description from ChristianAudio.com:

Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit (Unabridged) by Francis Chan

A follow up to the profound message of Crazy Love, Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two?

As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit–the Helper–so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today’s church has admired the gift but neglected to open it. Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church’s power–the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan’s invitation to stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

Blessings,
Jeff
